Exhausted

We are more than tired. We are exhausted.

Life as a working parent, especially as a working mother, is living completely stretched from one thing to the next. As much as we love our families, the reality is we go from our first job, where we are compensated with money, to our second, unpaid job. Spending time with our kids is not work, but everything that comes with being a parent can feel like it.

Do you sit down before dinner? Or do you realize at 10pm when all the after-school activities and errands are done and the kids are fed and finally asleep, that you are hungry because in fact you haven’t eaten anything since the snacks you shoved in your face when you walked in the door from work?

How does this relate to the state of our planet? Well, here’s the thing: that exhaustion you feel? That deep in your bones, don’t-know-how-much-longer-I-can-do-this feeling? Our living world is experiencing this same exhaustion.
